The Martha's Vineyard Winter Film Festival
Liven up the winter. For the 10th year in a row the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival presents a weekend of interesting, cutting edge independent film, live music and scrumptious food. Check out some of the best film the indy world has to offer. Pick one or spend the whole weekend hanging out in the cozy lounge, enjoying a variety of healthy food. The festival attracts film lovers from all over and features many of the film's directors and others involved. Great place to hang on a chilly winter weekend. Festival starts on Friday evening with opening night film and party and continues with films all day on Sat. and Sun.

Oak Bluffs Memorial Day Five Kilometer Road Race and One Mile Fun Run

Supper with the Sisters
Don’t miss The Sisters engaging humorous tales of living with the daily struggle of a habit from the perspective of a nun’s habit.  Sister Maurice shares her insights on the journey of recovery with her characteristic humor and energy.  Her message for “living the program” is guaranteed to touch your heart and soul.

June 17th
A Taste of the Vineyard Gourmet Stroll
The Taste of the Vineyard is the kick-off to the Vineyard's summer social season!  The Island's finest restaurants, caterers and beverage purveyors can all be found in the same place at the same time for this one night only. This is your chance to sample the Vineyard's best food, wine and hand-crafted beers as you catch up with old friends after a long, cold winter.  Cruising through the tents, you'll savor a "Taste" from more than 75 outstanding fine food and beverage participants. 
Then, you can dance off all those calories with the hottest band around - Jerry Bennett and the Sultans of Swing.  And, for great memories of the Taste of the Vineyard, photographer Joe Mikos will be there with his famous couch and "Shoot Yourself" camera.  Your photos are available for purchase on line the very next day! 
Tickets to the Taste of the Vineyard go on sale on May 15.  Don't wait or hesitate - tickets for the Taste of the Vineyard are limited and it's always a sell-out!  You must be 21 to attend.  Under 30?  Bring your ID! A Taste of the Vineyard Gourmet Stroll - $150 per person

Oak Bluffs Harbor Festival & Fireworks Night
Celebrate Harbor Fest, OB's annual celebration with food, music and vendors displaying their wares. Kickoff to the long days of summer with live bands, arts & crafts vendors, food and family fun. Stroll between the water's edge and the gingerbread cottages of Oak Bluffs. Everything from clothing & jewelry to artwork and beach supplies -- the Harborfest has it all. Raindate is June 20.

Parade down Main Street in Edgartown begins at 5PM

Edgartown on the Fourth is classic Americana and  Fella Caters offers you a classic American cookout - burgers and dogs with all the fixins' and much more! 

Bring the family, spread out your blanket and relax and enjoy a great meal while waiting for the parade to start.  Free marching band concerts in the Old Whaling Church before and after the parade are fun for the whole family. 

Food is sold and served a la carte and tickets are not needed to attend.  It's a great place to have a casual dinner after the parade and before the fireworks! Admission is free.

Stroll the Arts District on Dukes County Ave., adjacent to downtown Oak Bluffs and the Gingerbread cottages. A wonderful way to explore the District's galleries. 4 - 7 pm. Free to all.

VNA Clambake at the Field Gallery
The Vineyard Nursing Association invites you to their tasty annual clambake at the Field Gallery in West Tisbury. Ticket price is $125 or a table of 8 for $900. Event will be catered by Martha's Vineyard Clambake Company.

2010 Monster Shark Tournament
The 24nd Annual Monster Shark will be held in Oak Bluffs. This event is the largest offshore sport fishing event in New England and draws hundreds of participants and on lookers to Oak Bluffs. Several State and IGFA All-Tackle World Records have been set in previous events and the excitement level is high for 2010!

August 18th
Grand Illumination
Gather at the MV Camp Meeting Association's Tabernacle for a sing-along followed by the annual Grand Illumination when the hundreds of lanterns hung on gingerbread cottage porches are lit. This tradition, dating from the turn of the 19th century, will delight the whole family. Sing along starts around 7 pm and the lanterns are lit at dark.

August 19th - 22nd
149th Annual Agricultural Society Fair
Rides, games, live music, livestock, competitions, craft demonstrations, food, shopping, art show, and awards for homegrown vegetables, fruits, flowers and homemade goodies. And of course, the ever popular dog show. There's truly something for everybody.

August 20th
Fireworks at Ocean Park in Oak Bluffs
This is a fun night to spend out with family and friends. Oak Bluffs is a great place to do it. Grab dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in the area, then maybe an ice cream... and then head over to the park for the show. the Vineyard Haven Band in the gazebo begins at 8 pm, fireworks at dark! It is truly one of the best events of the summer.

Admission is free. Sponsored by the Oak Bluffs Fireman's Civic Association. Come one come all! Music starts at 8 pm

September 9th - 12th
Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival
And the movies are just the beginning.
They will be followed by post “conversations” that bring together guests from film, media, and art to discuss and debate with the audience the issues, cultural idiosyncrasies, and triumphs of the cultures revealed by the extraordinary series of films.
The entertainment will continue right outside the screening venues in downtown Vineyard Haven in the festival’s “Walking Festival District”, where Main Street will be alive with local shops and restaurants hosting special events, cocktail parties, artist showcases, live music and more.
Martha’s Vineyard is the perfect location for our multi-day festival, with its amazing beaches, sunsets, spectacular restaurants, unique shops, and highly engaging community.

Tivoli Day Festival
An annual celebration of summer’s end on Circuit Avenue featuring: live music, arts, crafts great food and family fun. Saturday, September 18, 2009, noon until 8 pm all along Circuit Ave which will be closed to traffic. Music is at the Third World Trading end of the street from thought the day.

October 10th
Columbus Day 5K Road Race & Fun Run
Join us for the annual Columbus Day 5K Road Race and one mile Fun Run to benefit the Island Affordable Housing Fund. This is a T.A.C. certified race around East Chop with sweeping panoramic views! In addition to the 5K Road Race, the 1 mile Fun Run starts at 10:30 am. and a 5K Walk starts at 11 am. $15-pre-registration, Saturday October 9th 3-5 pm or $20 on day of race 9-10 am (register at the Wesley Hotel in Oak Bluffs.)
